A well-known financial company in Sri Lanka has been linked to illegal garbage dumping near the Rajawaka Reserve Forest. The discovery was made by environmentalist and media personality Anuradha Devapriya during a recent visit for a video on his YouTube channel Secret of Nature.
Devapriya, who previously hosted Sobadhara, a popular environmental program on national television, came across the dump site while filming in the area. Among the garbage were printed vehicle number plates, a branded mug, and advertising materials clearly connected to a leading financial company in the country.
It appears that one of the company’s branches has been dumping its waste illegally in this protected area—raising serious concerns about corporate responsibility.
“This is a disgrace,” Devapriya said in his video. “While the government is trying to clean up the country through the Clean Sri Lanka program, things like this are still happening.”
Clean Sri Lanka is a national initiative by the government to promote proper waste management and create a cleaner, more beautiful country.
This is the first time this information is being made public—we are just revealing it now, and the general public is still unaware of what’s happening in this important natural area.
A proper investigation must be carried out immediately, and those responsible should be held accountable. If major companies act this irresponsibly, it puts our environment—and the efforts to protect it—at serious risk.
