The Sri Lanka national under-20 football team recorded a thrilling 3–2 victory over the Maldives in the 2026 South Asian Under-20 Football Championship.
Playing a group stage match in the host nation, Sri Lanka found themselves trailing 2–0 at halftime as the Maldives dominated the opening period.
However, the young Sri Lankan side mounted an impressive second-half comeback, scoring three goals to overturn the deficit and secure a dramatic win.
Mohamed Katheem, Ahmed Hijazi, and Hussein Abdullah were on target for Sri Lanka, sealing an important result for the team.
Sri Lanka are set to continue their group stage campaign with upcoming matches against Nepal and Bhutan.
The tournament, organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), is currently being held in the Maldives.
