Vega has become the first road-legal car made in Sri Lanka

Vega Innovations, a subsidiary of CodeGen International (Pvt) Ltd., has made history by creating Sri Lanka’s and South Asia’s first fully electric supercar, the Vega EVX. This car has been approved for road use by the Department of Motor Traffic, and the first Vega car registered in Sri Lanka was handed over to the President and CEO of CodeGen and the designer of the car, Harsha Subasinghe.

The Vega EVX made its debut in 2020 when it was shipped to Switzerland to be unveiled at the prestigious 90th Geneva International Motor Show. It was the first-ever vehicle entirely designed and engineered in Sri Lanka to be showcased at an international motor show.

The all-electric two-seater supercar features a handmade carbon fiber body and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive drivetrain that delivers 804HP and 720NM of torque. Recent test drives confirm a remarkable 0 to 100 kmph acceleration in just 3.1 seconds, an estimated range of 250 kilometres, and a top speed of 240 kmph, highlighting the overall performance of the Vega EVX supercar.

The car has some of the most advanced technologies in the EV supercar space, including in-house designed and manufactured automotive electronics, liquid cooled motor controllers, and a Li-ion battery pack. The Vega EVX showcases advanced multidisciplinary technology applications and is a symbol of Sri Lanka’s growing capabilities in the field of electric vehicles.
